About

As a designer I believe art and design present no creative boundaries; it is real, relevant, continuous and alive. Within my practice I strive to produce work which seeks to champion and challenge the avant-garde sustainably. In doing so I seek to drive design and the industry forward in a positive manner, challenging norms and societal expectations. In order for the industry to thrive and survive there must be real concern for sustainably supported by practises and actions that live and demonstrate that commitment. However, I believe such ethos and practise must support not compromise the design process and I seek to explore this synergy.

Within my graduate collection ‘MOVE.’ I have sought to embody these principles. ‘MOVE,’ is a collection inspired by the notion of movement in both its many interpretations and guises. It’s a statement of the power, illusion and transformative nature of movement. The collection is crafted using reclaimed bicycle inner tubes critical in the movement of people creating a novel fabric which has been rediscovered and repurposed into a new space and function facilitating movement in another form. Movement in this manner has been transformed in a sustainable and ethical manner.

My drive to produce forward thinking and creative work has further been realised with garments shown at London Fashion Week 2022 and garments available for rental within a European couture collection from 2023. I seek to continue exploring my design ethos of experimentation, discovery, sustainability and responsibility whereby innovation in materials and garment technology can be further realised.

Materialised from a body of research inspired by the notion of movement in its many interpretations and guises ‘MOVE’ explores my fascination of possibility encompassed by this verb and noun. Its transformative and illusionary nature is hinted at throughout the collection through powerful transformational garments and accessories. The entirety of the collection is crafted through the implementation and use of reclaimed bicycle inner tubes, an unavoidable waste product critical in the movement of people. In turn I have curated a novel sustainable fabric which has been rediscovered and repurposed into a new space and function. This is implemented within every look within the collection whereby facilitating movement in another form. My ambition for this collection is to highlight what can be achieved through the utilisation and implementation of waste material so as to push the boundaries of garment and material curation to attain a more sustainable circular future.
