I am a Venezuelan fashion designer rooted in San Francisco, fueled by an immense passion for garment construction, textile design, and the art of sewing. Continuously pushing boundaries, I thrive on exploring diverse silhouettes and textiles, constantly stepping beyond my comfort zone. My creative process is deeply influenced by the vast compositions and textures surrounding me. I love music, coffee, and singing while sewing (really, I can't help it) I have been trained in garment construction since I was five years old, and discovered this was my passion early in life, but it wasn't until some years later that I had the chance to pursue it as a career. Now, I'm a senior student at the Academy of Art University. I have excellent time management skills and work well under pressure on tight timelines.
This project combines two of my favorite things: flamenco dancing and rock music. I collaborated with textile designer Jen Chu and jewelry and metal arts designer Mercede Sheybani. This irreverent collection disrupts societal norms of gender and current beauty standards.
For this fashion collection, I draw inspiration from architecture and decayed urban structures in Canada. The silhouettes are structured yet fluid, echoing the dynamic lines of those shapes. The textiles have been transformed using rust, hand pleating, dye removal, and some Shibori techniques, harmoniously coming together in a particularly organic collection.
