About
Farzana Akter is a graduate surface
designer for both interior and fashion design. Driven by her intricately
hand-drawn illustrations, Farzana’s work celebrates the colour and composition
that can be found in their surroundings. Specialising in both Print and Embroidery,
she combines both traditional and digital techniques within her design process.
Farzana aspires for her work to provoke and drive important conversations on
our preservation of and approach to our cultural and architectural heritage.
The project's aim is to spread awareness about the threat Venice is facing due to extreme flooding. A collection of prints illustrating fractured building of Venice is assembled to make abayas, which are known for their lengthy layers of protection. The merging of Venetian architecture and Eastern clothing has been showcased through hand-painted illustrations.
