About
Moritz Lonyay is a graphic designer specializing in brand identity design, typography, information design and print. Moritz holds an MFA in graphic design from Rhode Island School of Design. I have benefited from an international, multi-lingual upbringing, spent my educational years abroad and therefore love to work and collaborate with people from various cultural backgrounds. My previous professional and educational experience fostered my understanding of design across cultures and enabled my success as a young designer with a special interest in topics relating to the age of the Anthropocene.
Colors of extinction
Colors of Extinction (https://colorsofextinction.com/) is one of the core thesis projects I worked on. Extinction as a concept formed a personal area of interest for me before deciding to go to grad school. The idea that something ceases to exist always fascinated and terrified me. Once discovering that we are currently going through an event of mass extinction, caused by humans, it quickly became my focus area of research. Colors of Extinction is a collaborative online color archive that documents the process of extinction through species’ proportional color swatches that can be used as a design resource to create a tool as well as awareness.
