Visual and industrial designer, Bezalel Academy recent graduate
Since the beginning of the war with Russia, Ukrainian culture has been experiencing the need to redefine itself, to be known as an authentic culture and not as just a part of post-soviet cultural assembly. The physical disconnection from the places where I grew up inspired me to conduct a lengthy study of Ukrainian customs, ancient rituals and traditional tools. The project bridges the past and the present, and offers a contemporary experience of greeting guests, while preserving traditional gestures and customs. The set includes tools for serving wine and bread. The objects were born out of a desire to present lesser-known aspects of Ukrainian culture and to observe the aesthetics and functionality of traditional objects. Photos: Nadav Goren
