About

I specialize in knitwear and have interests in technical, highly functional design, transformable garments and sustainability. My graduate collection features unisex technical outerwear and military inspired utilitarian details, various knitwear techniques and repurposed materials. My collection was heavily influenced by my experience growing up in and exploring more isolated villages in the surrounding Peak District, thinking about life for young people living in such rural areas and how alternative lifestyles may collide when music festivals and raves take place in these areas. Imagery around raves and festivals highlighted a series of expressive subjects and inspired the mouth motif that features throughout the collection.

My collection is heavily influenced by my experience growing up in and exploring isolated villages surrounding the Peak District, considering young people living in such rural areas and how alternative lifestyles may collide when music festivals and raves take place in these areas. My collection features transformable garments including a jacket that can also be worn as trousers and a bag as well as a skirt that zips off into a mini skirt, with the bottom half becoming a multiway bag. The different uses of my garments and the ways they adapt, disassemble, join and interact make them suitable for multiple conditions and purposes relating to my concept. The multi functionality and increased wearability of the garments should encourage the wearer to continually use, change and repair their garment throughout changing environments and specific needs. Analysing tent fixtures and finishings also supported the more technical and waterproof garments I have designed, repurposing details including tent zips, guy rope tensioners and gaiter hooks.
