About
My namne is Emma Samuelsson and I'm a ceramic artist. I am newly graduated with a BFA in ceramic art from HDK-Valand, the academy of art and design in Gothenburg, Sweden. When I create, I start from the private, based on memories, roots and history. I start from my feelings and let them guide me in the process. For me, storytelling is a part of the creation. In my work it may not always be clear to the viewer what my work is about. The work often has a more abstract narrative, I create images for thoughts.
My project is about trying to engage people through my art and raise questions about how we value our nature. The climate changes around the world affect us all to a greater or lesser extent. The main questions that I have been working with is: -How can I create plants that can remind of the transience of life, the finitude of life and the decay of everything? -How can I describe the importance of plants to humans through form and visual storytelling in a way that engages people? The main goal with my work was to engage people and raise questions about how we value our nature by showing the impermanence of plants?
