In my project, I have explored how the fashion industry can be more responsible. One solution that requires minimal investment is reusing waste. I have focused on fabric and plastic. The idea is to collect these materials both at the source and at the consumer’s end. Instead of using more of the planet’s already depleted natural resources, fabric and plastic that end up as scrap in factories at various stages such as weaving, tailoring, printing, and packaging can be rescued. as well as, items that are discarded by the people after wearing can be reused and up-cycled. I have experimented with repurposing these materials by making swatches, using various techniques such as patchwork, Appliqué, and Weaving, Etc. Our group is convinced that there is a huge market for such intelligent fashion as it combines aesthetic appeal with imaginative sustainability. Here is an opportunity for people to spend on looking good while making a difference to future generations who will inherit the earth. By achieving goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities, we will be environmentally sustainable in terms of cleanliness and efficiency. Further I chose deconstruction and reconstruction as my technique then I stitched a garment which is sustainable and is made up of used denims.
